HTML everything. Desktop apps as mere browser controls that extends a js object to communicate with the actual program. Even the command line was replaced like this. There was nothing but a browser, and it was the os. HTML generation functionality was added to the standard library.
I often have prophetic dreams. Have no doubt that this is the future of computing.

Recently I started to like covering myself in stale HTML and masturbating. Almost every morning I walk around my neighborhood with a large black garbage bag and collect all the tags I see. It takes a whole day to get two bags full of HTML. But it all pays off when I come home after a hard day, go to the bathroom, turn on the hot water and…mmm, pour all the tags into the bathtub. And then I masturbate, imagining that I’m being devoured by all the HTML. All in all, I think, that HTML has its own mind, each pile of divs has its own family, place, feelings, we shouldn’t just flush them down the toilet, we should take care of them, talk to them, pet them… And you know what, I had a wonderful dream while lying in the bathtub yesterday, I dived into the sea and it turned into HTML, fish, seaweed, jellyfish, everything turned into HTML, even the sky, Allah himself.

>>1 No-no-no, desktop apps are browser controls to communicate with the actual program in the cloud. Also, all program access is via passport identification and all personal info is stored at all servers for at least five years and open to government agencies.

I once starting writing an OS in HTML. I stopped when I realised that there would always be whiny faggots pestering me to use javascript, just like how Linux Torvalds is always pestered by whiny faggots telling him to use Sepples
Sorry I mean RMS Marx Stalin. I forgot it was actually him who wrote Linux.

In a sense, this type of interface would be nice.
Instead of dealing with the clutter of libraries like wxwidgets, qt, and gtk, you would instead design the UI with HTML and CSS, and write your program to interface with the local web server, and never have to make a mess of your code to deal with annoying GUI libraries.
Imagine writing your program without the clutter of nasty GUI libraries, and instead simply connecting to a web server and providing hooks for it to use, and then using HTML, CSS, and Javascript to create a user interface, all while keeping your own codebase nice and neat.

>>6 Well, that doesn't sound so bad. People (or, more likely, the UX `expert' shitheads plauging popular OS dev teams) could inject javashit to customize their UI. It might also mean the death of infinitely shitty libraries like GTK and less shitty one's like Qt.

>>6,8 Replacing an ugly evil shit with a more pretty evil shit still leaves you with an evil shit.
>>6,8 The idea of using a markup language to describe a graphical interface isn't a bad (or a new) idea. Have you ever tried making one though? Shit looks different in different browsers, CSS is shit, blocks are never placed where you want them to be, HTML is shit, your interface will never look uniform, JS is shit, everything is shit as it is now.
At the very least, those shitty bloated toolkits behave deterministically under the same platform, and some of the decent ones (like QT) actually look the same no matter what platform they're running on. Facebook appsweb browsers are far far from being a decent platform to work on.

>>11 It doesn't have to be treated as a webpage. The program still has complete control over the rendering context, if it so wants, and can disallow maximizing, resizing, etc... Also, 24 years of baggage in the HTML renderer can be removed and interpret everything as pure, completely standards compliant html5 and such.
It would be impossible to make something as complicated as, say, photoshop witgout it looking like shit though.

>>11 CSS and HTML are not pixel perfect presentation formats. Do not ever expect to get pixel perfect presentation with CSS. If you need perfection, you should be using PDF.
>>15 How are GTK and Qt less shit than HTML? GTK is a toolkit ripped out of a photoshop ripoff that is uglier than Windows 95's paint.exe, which literally tries to reimplement sepples in C and makes it worse, and requires dickloads of libraries installed, and is only good of you want a consistently hideous, buggy, and slow GUI across platforms ooks exactly like whatever vaporware crap was popular back in the 80's that the GTK autists fell in love with. Qt is much less shit, much better than, say, Java's Swing, but is still requires it's own preprocessor which should be totally unnecessary for just shoving some buttons on the screen.

I had a dream where I was in a locker, naked and with a hard-on. There was a button I could press. It would give me a randomly-generated boyfriend and we would jack each other off while kissing. I could keep on pressing it to get different results. It was really weird. I woke up with a raging boner. I hate myself and I want to die. Why couldn't I have been born straight?
