Some Clojure programmer posted his blog post on the Lisp reddit about how Lisp is ``functional'' and ``immutable'' and other languages are ''imperative'' and ``mutable''!

Then to sound smart he characterized this difference as the difference between Lambda Calculus and Turing Machines.

Lisp is imperative. It was always imperative. Functional doesn't even mean anything at this point; its a retarded buzzword at this point.

I am glad he's a Clojure programmer. I hope his fate is to program in Clojure forever!!

I really admire old Lisp people like Joswig-san who is tireless in his fight to set random people on the web right about what Lisp is, what it isn't, why it's important, why it's not important, what it's good at, what it's bad at etc. etc. but I just don't have the energy. Nor do I think its worth wasting my life casting pearls before swine. There's plenty of pearls already there for those with the eyes to recognize them. Those who swallow the latest buzzwords thrown into their mouths from the California snake oil teppanyaki restaraunt aren't worth educating. Nothing to educe.

On the other hand, I feel a responsibility to not stand idly by and watch the hipsters and trendroids steal the word Lisp. A lot of young programmers are getting the wrong idea about what the real world practice of Lisp is, or was, and why it was so inspirational.
