Crypto-Atheists

The idea scares the hell out of me: namely, that
one of the people in my congregation is an Atheist
masquerading as a Christian for social advantage
(or sexual advantage, for that matter).

Is there some tried and tested method that allows me
to determine whether or not a person is a true believer?

Read up on the terms ``irony'' and ``sarcasm''. While technically they often fall under ``acting stupid'', they are certainly different from the most common instance of ``acting stupid''.

Highly logical people actually do more of this ``acting stupid'' than illogical people, because they can hope their peers will understand it's all an act by contrasting the fallacies with the logic usually displayed by said logical people.
