Anime & Witchcraft

I've noticed a recent trend in anime promoting witchcraft & occult powers, particularly since 2010's. Very open display of sigils, various demonic entities(depicted as morally ambiguous) & magical rituals(the Western occult type, not japanese). Chaos magic & summoning are particularly promoted. This doesn't look sinister until you research what these symbols & rituals are, which is likely to be blindly imitated by dumb teens (just like ouija boards lead to open possession through nothing but a plain cardboard with letters).
What stands behind this occult intrusion?

I bet the jews did this.

Did you start watching anime in the 2010's, or...?

Since early 90's, the occult stuff ramps up in 2010's (Madoka is a prime example)

I agree with >>3-kun, there's been tons of Maho This and Majo That series for 40+ years.

Cutesy fairytale magic & superhero action magic with calling your attacks/spells isn't occult. I'm talking about real spellcraft.

>>5 There are major changes:
Anime before ~2010's
1. Did not promote sigils & showcased them everywhere.
2. Didn't promote demonic possession as superpower.
3. Didn't have any satanic imagery & demon worship
4. Didn't use occult rituals as centerpiece of magic:
(instead calling out attacks/spells was the norm).
Anime before 2000's has even more cutesy fairytale mindset
compared to heavily realistic "magical anime" of today.
I suppose its evolving to be more real-to-life imitation, but
dumb weebs like you don't realize the transition to hardcore stuff has already happened.

Notice that trend, modern anime is becoming more demonic.
Deceptive cutesy design to corrupt children + normalization of demonic possession.

I had my suspicions, but now I know that you're retarded. You're using the fact that a ``25 best'' article written solely for SEO mainly lists more recent anime as proof of a trend? And your complaint about the use of cutesy ``demonic'' themes in modern themes is at odds with >>8-kun's assertion that pre-2000s ``demonic'' anime doesn't count because it was cutesy.

Doesn't Devilman fit all those criteria? And Megami Tensei...

It was not a common theme in anime, and it wasn't treated in-depth,
more like background myth elements. Some pre-2010 anime do show occult influence & ritual depictions,
but they're a rare novelty in sea of cutesy fairytale maho shojo.
The earliest example i can think of is actually Lyrical Nanoha manga&anime,
which has a fully fledged occult magic system in 2004, but still isn't that demonic.

It hard to explain the exact stuff i see, because it will be unfamiliar: Devilman is NOT occult anime.
Shin Megami Tensei isn't either
1. The themes of demons/angels are mythological.
2. Anime doesn't become occult anime because it has entity X.
3.Anime becomes occult when it depicts occult rituals, magic systems which involves demon-summoning, sigils that bind to entities,
basically depiction of actual magic(or magick as pretentious thelemites call it).
4.Anime that promotes #3 as cool & liberating,
in form of witchcraft/magic/superpowers is what
OP is talking about. Not shonen plot elements.
Actual techniques/rituals to be replicated by viewers
is the idea here, from drawing sigils to summoning circles.
Anime that is clearly designed as occult training
in faint disguise of supernatural themed anime:
this is not cringy maho shojo transformation sequences
or shonen battle fluff rituals, though it likely also contain these due genre themes.

It now penetrates every genre of anime and is clearly
organized by someone with knowledge of occult & its
promotion to children(likely child psychology is involved). Demonic 'waifus' is another topic,
that is especially disturbing with thousands tulpa-forcing (summoning) various demons with minimal
effort from designers of such anime..

Also here is more complete list of anime with demons(though some are obviously missed due plot labeling them
as spirits/fairies/servitors/etc)
