Wim Hof Method(WHM) is nothing but Pranayama which is an ancient Indian breath control excercise. WHM begins with 30 heavy breath in/outs. This is nothing but Bhastrika Pranayama. WHM then asks you to take a deep breath and hold it as long as you can. This is nothing but Kumbhaka in Pranayama. You can google Bhastrika Pranayama and also Kumbhaka. People try WHM without a second thought of side effects. I would warn people not jump directly into this. A few things to consider here

1) Pranayama is usually done after strengthening your body with Yoga first.

2) Pranayama is started small. Bhastrika pranayama is quite advanced and is usually started with only about 10 breaths. In Pranayama you start small and go about it every single day. Regularity matters more than intensity. You increase in intensity very very slowly over a period of months

3) Kumbhaka or holding of breath is also considered dangerous if practiced incorrectly

4) Pranayama is usually practiced under the expert quidance of a Guru. Doing so willy nilly can cause harm

WHM practiced without proper technique and stamina, can cause harm. It can cause headaches, weakness, dizziness and so on. Please start slow. An easy breath control technique for starters is called Anulom Vilom. This is much more milder and has huge benefits if done regular. I would suggest to start with this. Google It.
