Which Lord of The Rings Movie Should I Watch For The 1st Time? Or Should I Watch The Hobbit?

Well?

I watched the original trilogy recently and I have to say that it is extremely overrated. Not only that but it does not even try to follow the books (which I hear that are not that good either).
I would go with the hobbit instead for the simple fact that it can't be as bad as the trilogy.
