Termux might be even more useful

https://github.com/Capaverde/fucksociety/raw/master/Termux_com.termux.apk

Criteria are, only ad-free, non-malicious apps, possibly foss, which ask only for the permissions necessary for its functionality. I'll rip anything you ask me for.

This is a way to bypass google play and other gatekeepers. (All gatekeepers are malicious.)

.apk is like the Android equivalent to .exe right? Nah, I'll pass.

Not an exe, but a package to be installed. A zip containing jar files etc. You can convert it to .zip, unzip and open it and check it yourself.

Hell, you might even edit it, zip it again, rename it to .apk, and reinstall it with your modifications.

I don't even use Android lol

People act like Android is just Linux on a smartphone, but it phones home to Google all the time and gives them all your personal info. That is not okay.

Where is the source?

It seems apks are yes zip files, but "compilated". You need to decompile them to see the source.

https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1954886
(This link is merely to show that the method exists, but I haven't followed it yet)

And of course you can obtain an apk file from an installed app with an apk extractor, there are many around.

It isn't as actually decompiling since the output isn't java, it's a ``dex assembly'' language called smali.

Name: Anonymous 2018-07-05 19:37

why rip and upload to github? apkmirror is fine

Use apkmirror if you like, I admit I didn't know about it.

riptube, ripgram, etc

It's just a webserver hosting the apks that were extracted manually, and the apk extractor's source has already been posted. Unless the apk extracting is being done automatically, but I don't know that.

Some questions arise, like breaking Google Play's protocol and downloading .apk's from their servers into your non-smartphone computer, but I'm feeling a bit tired and going to sleep.

My speculation is GP downloads its .apk's into its local app folder, inaccessible to non-root users. But then it'd probably a temp folder and deleted after installation... But it certainly needs to download it first, or the Android OS wouldn't be able to install it, especially since some .apk's are very large. Stream-installs seem improbable, probably impossible, because .apk's are encrypted.

I would look for a source on this but I'm tired.

Not encrypted, but compressed/compiled. Well...

root your phone, then simply copy the apk, no need for an extractor

A bit disappointed Discord requires Google Play Services to run. I wasn't aware of this.

What channel/network? I'll come back with an answer later today or later this week if none is provided.

Only if you use a garbage OS like Android.
