who'd u quoting

Name: Anonymous 2017-11-14 8:13

Not all of them are like that.

Name: Anonymous 2017-11-14 10:52

There simply isn't any incentive to make "retro games" in a proprietary market.

Name: Anonymous 2017-11-14 13:41

It's called gacha, not fucking lootboxes.

Whom are you quoting?

>he doesn't know what greentext is

Name: Anonymous 2017-11-15 14:23

>>8
If it's greentext, then why isn't it green?

Name: Anonymous 2017-11-15 15:45

I prefer Chess and Go, these two games are well designed and fun.

Name: Anonymous 2017-11-15 17:11

They're not pinnacle of balancing.
Go komi handicap is controversial and changed in the past.
Chess is inbalanced in favor of white due first move advantage.

Retrogaming:
>no microtransactions
Because they didn't have the technology to do so. You bet your ass they would have done it if they could.
>no "official servers"
What servers? How far ago are you talking about with "retro"?
>no DLC/Expansions
This is false. Expansions have existed for decades.
>no lootboxes/cash shops
Because they didn't have the technology to do so.
>no need to buy current year+/-2 graphics card
nigga u dumb.
>no annoying children ruining the expirience
Because online multiplayer games were uncommon.
>vibrant retro-speedrunning community
What?
>active emulation subculture
I guess. But what does that have to do with how good it is?
>youtube community
nigga u dumb.
>studied by computer science
No.
>thousands of independent forums filled with real fans
Maybe back in the day.
>free ROM repositories
And illegal.
>requires actual skill to play
That's true, in a way. But it's mainly has to do with the fact game devs exploit this by making the more difficult to artificially increase its length. Which is pretty bullshit.

Modern Games:
>DLC/Microtransactions/lootboxes/Cash shop
Free market.
>constant patches and fixes
nigga u dumb.
>servers filled with bots and hackers
This was a problem even in the 90s. But now it's because video games are more popular.
>owned by unethical companies milking their audience dry
Free market.
>need Last Gen graphics cards to play
False.
>skill required is learned in a week
Is this a bad thing?
>game community filled with shills, trolls and children
Has to do with the popularity.
>speedrunning viewed as weird niche cult
And retro game speedrunners are viewed as well-adjusted adults?
>forums controlled by game-related companies
Forums are dying.
>studied by addiction specialists
Pretty sure people got addicted to retro games as well.
>essentially a graphical skinner box
What?

The what now? And if what's listed in >>1 aren't quotes, then it would make much more sense to use typographical bullets to list these things instead. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bullet_(typography)

typographical bullets
Meme arrows are a form of said.
>>19
Not quotes. Meme arrows. Check >>13 for an example of quotes.

Name: Anonymous 2017-11-16 16:54

The meme arrows status has ruined ">" for me. Every time I see somebody use ">" outside of an imageboard context, I immediately think they've deluded themselves into thinking using ">" for quoting is some kind of retarded secret handshake.

Exactly. That's why it's so upsetting to me that '>''s been appropriated the way it's been with obnoxious crossboarders that grew up on 4chan's red boards.
