“It’s really reconnaissance by a bad guy to try and figure out how we would break into your computer,” said Trevor Timmons, a spokesman for the Colorado secretary of state’s office. “It’s not an attack. I wouldn’t call it a probe. It’s not a breach, it’s not a penetration.”

The Wisconsin Election Commission, for example, said the state’s systems were targeted by “Russian government cyber actors.” Alaska Elections Division Director Josie Bahnke said computers in Russia were scanning election systems looking for vulnerabilities.

Being targeted does not mean that sensitive voter data was manipulated or results were changed. A hacker targeting a system without getting inside is similar to a burglar (or police officer?) circling a house checking for unlocked doors and windows.

Hillary still blaming others
Who said anything about hillary?

Name: Anonymous 2017-09-24 18:42

Because she blames "muh Russia" for her election loss, rather than where and how she fucked it up for herself. She's even written and published a book recently blaming everyone and everything but her. Also, Hillary is implied in these kinds of things.

Name: Anonymous 2017-09-24 19:50

ok but the article says the federal government notified the states, so hillary didn't do anything

Yes. Except that they're calling things like simple port sniffing "hacking" to confuse the technically illiterate public. And also, if they're so worried about possible "hacking" in a general election, then why not use paper ballots instead of voting machines with proprietary software to prevent such things?

>>11
why not use paper ballots instead
Because that takes a lot more time and money.

Governments have no problem spending time and money on all kinds of useless shit (like up until recently, Y2K preparedness), which is why the USA is now $20 Trillion in debt. So that's not even an excuse at this point.

Name: Anonymous 2017-09-24 22:34

>>13
That's because of the War industry.

Name: Anonymous 2017-09-24 22:43

>>14
Y2K has nothing to do with war industry.

Name: Anonymous 2017-09-25 0:38

You think the military didn't spend big money on failure testing to prep for Y2K?

Name: Anonymous 2017-09-25 0:41

This is funny:

Seventeen years after the Year 2000 bug came and went, the federal government will finally stop preparing for it.

The Trump administration announced Thursday that it would eliminate dozens of paperwork requirements for federal agencies, including an obscure rule that requires them to continue providing updates on their preparedness for a bug that afflicted some computers at the turn of the century.

No, that it's "the reason why the USA is now $20 Trillion in debt."

Name: Anonymous 2017-09-25 1:00

There's a lot of reasons why USA is in so much debt, I just used Y2K preparedness as an example. Plus a lot of Western countries use paper ballots for their elections so the whole "waste of time and money" bullshit is just an excuse.

Plus a lot of Western countries use
People also use "a lot of Western countries" in their examples for why this country can have universal health care or free universities. But the US is too big for that to work.

I have no problem with these ideas, per se, but the former will end up being used as more gibs for votes and the latter to subsidize SJW bullshit. Not really comparable to advocating having a voting system that can't be easily fucked with. A good example is the GOP pushing voter ID laws, countries like Australia ask people for their ID prior to voting, no reason states here in the USA couldn't do the same.

Don't change these.
