Catfood in the refrigerator

So a housemate of mine thinks I'm complaining about him storing opened cans of cat food in the refrigerator. Obviously, this is fairly disgusting because it's a closed environment and the fumes from the cat food will obviously be absorbed by other food items in the same environment and what not.

I asked him numerous times to keep that shit out of the fridge, but he tells me to not complain.

I've tried googling to no avail, the only results I get crazy cat ladies talking about what's best for their cats.

Do you guys know of any research done on this and whether it's safe to eat food from that fridge? What's your guys' opinion on this? Would you eat from that fridge? Would you store cat food like that?

I also sent the CDC an email about this. Will post the reply once I get it...
