Made in Abyss?

Any Made in Abyss fans here? Does anyone know why there's so much pedo bait (literal cp) in an otherwise good manga? Not necessary.

Most are animals.
Once explorer girl is a person.
She's in bad company and almost gets her arm ripped off.
The robot is nice.
The moral of the story is don't go exploring a jungle pit: you'll die without plot armor.
