homeless

might be homeless in a month or two

That sucks anon. Do you have anyone who can help you out? I've had my brushes but been lucky enough to avoid it

I've been contacting tons of places that supposedly help people in my situation but so far nothing has worked

Once upon a time I was in school to be a social worker. Do you live in America? Depending on your state it shouldn't be too difficult to find housing for you. Word to the wise however, public housing is a lot harder to get out of than to get into. Do you have any liquid assets? A trailer can be surprisingly affordable if you're willing to relocate. A trailer park in a wealthy blue state with cushy welfare is worth the bus ticket to move. If you don't feel comfortable posting personal information here (which you shouldn't), check the website for the county you live in, generally if it's bigger than 50,000 people it should have a dedicated health services section or a number you can call to find help. If that doesn't work and you live someplace cold, you might want to consider spending the winter in jail. If you must commit a crime to land in jail, my recommendation is to try to cash a check for something absurd like a billion dollars. This will prevent you from being put with the problem inmates generally. Best of luck to you, I hope you don't need to take my advice.

these programs technically exist but they are not easy to get into
I have called and emailed people explaining my situation and at least one place says I am not eligible even though I most likely won't have a place to stay in January
they also said they could help me find employment, but so far they haven't done anything

this social services place is complete bullshit and they haven't helped me with anything other than learning about billing and payments for their fucking useless services that don't help

Those services are for families and women who are already homeless, not for men who may be homeless in the future. You would be better served looking into what states/industries need workers right now and moving there and applying. The effort you are putting into trying to get help from services is wasted, put it into thinking of an outside-the-box solution.

get diagnosed with something like autism or schizophrenia

He'll still be homeless, but now with a black mark on his record to prevent him finding housing or obs himself.

I went to a place that said they offered "homeless" and "non-homeless" services but they are so slow that I will be homeless before they even get back to me about the "non-homeless" services
it's the worst pencil-pushing office bureaucracy I've ever seen
>>7
I'm diagnosed with other mental disorders and I am technically disabled, but I have an education and I am actively seeking out employment
>>8
yeah, some places pretend to not discriminate in their hiring process, but everybody discriminates against people with mental disorders, to the point that I don't even bring it up, but they can pretty much guess when they see me in perso

No matter what they say you shouldn't put much hope in non-homeless services. Your so called "mental disorder" is clearly not something real like schizophrenia since you are able to actively seek employment. You probably even have a car and no criminal record. So you can't expect to be put ahead of the millions of single mothers and schizo ex-cons who need these services.

On the flip side, you will find employment and then a home soon enough under your own steam even if you do become homeless for a moment, as long as you make a plan on how to keep clean and a safe place to sleep so you can apply for jobs if the worst should happen.

I currently do have a job but it doesn't pay very well, and people are put off by my mental issues when I interview for jobs. Yes, I have a car, and no, I do not have a criminal record. But I am still going to be homeless soon. What is wrong with you?

Name: Anonymous 2018-12-02 2:44

The point is that you are wasting your time with these homeless slash non-homeless services and should instead focus on finding a place to live. How is that hard to understand?!

Name: Anonymous 2018-12-02 2:49

yeah I'm totally gonna rent an apartment with next to no income
great idea, genius
that's why I'm looking into jobs, but nothing is working
and this place that claims to help people in my position isn't doing shit

That's because too many people in real need, the aforementioned families and crazy people, are coming before you. Crying isn't going to change that. Exactly what is stopping you from accepting this reality and moving on?

Name: Anonymous 2018-12-02 3:11

Yes, I have a car
I thought you said you were homeless asshole. A car is like a snail's pouch, you can fucking live in it and travel with it to where the jobs are (hint farmworkers are needed with the illegals crackdown). Holy shit what an entitled little prick faggot!

I was homeless in the past. And now I am going to be homeless again.

Yeah buddy, I'm so entitled because I want to have a bed to sleep in, instead of living in my car. My old, shitty, tiny car, barely worth any money at all, with its numerous problems. I'm clearly so fucking rich!

Quit being an idiot.

Moving on? Are you a troll?

I am applying for jobs and I don't get hired. It is clearly because of my mental illness. I am applying for lots of social services. They don't accept me.

So they are saying my situation is too good in order for me to get help. But I am apparently too disabled for people to hire me.

So they will let me become homeless because they can't help people who are not homeless yet? That doens't make any sense.

You are just being a mean troll.I am going to be homeless despite actively seeking out help and employment. I call and email people multiple times per day. I have a good public social media presence. I have a well-edited resume. I have a website with an online portfolio. I have an education. But despite all this, I am still going to become homeless because people discriminate against those with mental health disabilities.

The best advice I can give you is: good luck on the job hunt, it is what it is. Hopefully you don't become homeless, but if you do at least you have a car and a job. For many people the situation is much worse, which explains why you have trouble getting attention from help services.

not all employment is equal

my current job doesn't pay enough to put a roof over my head

Not even with roommates? Have you applied for foodstamps? Post your budget and we'll go over it together.

I wrote a lot of info answering your questions and explaining my situation and then I realized I don't necessarily want to share all that personal stuff on /lounge/ and then deleted it all instead of posting it

In that case we can only assume you are in fact objectively in danger of homelessness. This isn't ideal since you said you had an mental disorder, and paranoid-style belief in impending calamity and doom is common with such disorders.

well I am contacting more people and hopefully on monday people will read my emails and respond, apparently there are some places that help people get affordable housing or public housing projects (bad reputation but better than homelessness), foodstamps, and places that help unemployed people get jobs, so I am looking into all of this stuff

the problem was I was going to a really bad counseling place and they implied they could help me with this stuff and then didn't actually help, but if I look into other resources, then maybe I actually can get some help to avoid homelessness
