you are thinking about life from a materialistic point of view
Tourism is most extravagant materialistic activity i can think of, and it entails spending absurd amount of money on overpriced "for tourist" experience. Tourists are not some spiritual pilgrims finding answers to their travels. They're pigs shoving their faces into every corner to find something genuine and authentic, just to fill the void in their dull and bland lifestyle - they can't produce any meaning for their efforts "its for the expirience" "enriching my worldview" are vague excuses that mask their inability to acknowledge how insulated and sheltered their worldview was before: the worst part is they ignore reality from their daily life and need to get "face-to-face" experience to even consider something different might exists. Closed-minded simpletons.

life is about experiences, not objects
I prefer safe and controlled world where i decide the expirience, I'm not searching for adventure and exotic expiriences, i appreciate life in small pieces and slow motion - i don't seek cheap thrills and status symbols. There is nothing enlightening in tourist trips and there isn't some magical experience outside your mind - a single vivid dream is worth more year of tourism for experience .

cars are useful for everyday life
For American suburbs maybe. I don't live in suburbia and i don't travel for leisure and i don't need expensive status symbols.
