Is it just me...

I keep hearing about all these domains being seized from godaddy. Why is it that all these supposedly tech savvy people who run racist websites are so stupid as to all pick the same awful registrar? This is so ubiquitous I cannot help but think there is something very fishy about all of this.

To be fair domain registrars are often resellers of resellers. If godaddy is directly accredited as a registrar by ICANN then there will be lots of companies reselling domains that godaddy gets directly. Therefore it is possible that people are buying godaddy domains without realizing they are. I'm not sure if that's the case (would you know godaddy is behind it if their reseller kicks you?) but it is something to consider since there aren't that many direct ICANN domain registrars and many people buy domains several layers of reselling down.
