Angry about politics

Although /prog/ and /lounge/ are tech-oriented boards (at least to some degree), I think technology is reducing our social interactions and society and culture to triviality.

People are getting shittier, increasingly self-centered, etc. Have you noticed the difference between old-style online communities, such as textboards, and new-age stuff like Facebook or Instagram or Twitter? Old-school stuff always prioritized discussion. Social interaction and togetherness. But new stuff is so narcissistic. You get suggestions for pages you might like or people you might want to follow. Based on what? Based on them being similar to you and your interests. Facebook emphasizes you and your own posts, not interacting with others. It's so vain.

Additionally, tech elite in Google are trying to use their positions to push their left-wing agendas and propagandize the masses. People think working in tech is all about the salary. In reality, it's about the ability to influence social media platforms that millions or even billions of people use. They are subtly trying to sway people more towards the left and eventually it'll get more extreme. They are deplatforming conservatives and trying to sway elections. They are trying to rewrite history. They are trying to use their technology to gain political advantages.

But what can we do about it?
