backspace with pinky , with middle finger Ctrl preferably with the edge of your palm Shift and Alt with knuckle of pinky y with right index finger x with middle finger ad hoc combinations using {Shift,Alt,Ctrl} should be on the opposite side of the other key--in general, maximizing the distance between finger press positions.

You should hit the right alt key with your thumb. By using your pinky, you're removing your hand from the home row and also straining yourself.
