[guide] how to transition to liux from start to finish

Anybody have one? I'm stuck at the start, at the 'what laptop do i purchase if i want linux os' stage because they all seem to already have win. or mac. oss preinstalled at root access level.

Perhaps you should try installing GNU/Linux first.

HRT -> SRS -> GNU

Hormone replacement therapy -> Seriously -> GNU's not Unix?

Laptops are kinda terrible for OSes that are not Windows or macOS.

There's plenty of resources on the net for things like this. Seriously. If you just make a web search of you model and put "Linux" next to it, you'll find exactly what you need. No need to fucking spoonfeed you. As for the "oss preinstalled at root access level" issue (whatever the fuck that means), just search for hardware that doesn't have a locked-down UEFI, and you're right as rain.

And, for the record, there are dozens of retailers out there that ship with GNU/Linux, the most notable of which is Dell. And several dozen more that can ship with out an OS or else FreeDOS. Stupid, lazy question.

Since you're just starting out, order a laptop from System76, their laptops come pre-installed with Ubuntu. https://www.system76.com/

It's Linux, but minus the nutcases.

Name: Anonymous 2017-11-26 7:38

Wrong, it's Unix Torvalds, inventor of the GNU operating system.

I used to use linucks some time ago (UBANTO)
I used to write HASKAL code for fun and do project euler exercises.
I removed linucks and got a job immediatelly
