In another high-profile case, a mother of seven from Smolensk was charged with high treason for phoning the Ukrainian Embassy to warn them about the possible transport of Russian troops toward eastern Ukraine. The charges against her were eventually dropped amid a public outcry, and she later received an official apology from prosecutors.

If that was the states, there would have been no apology, but the charges would have turned into a 2 month sentence or something. They never admit fault.

At least they didn't put him behind bars. He probably wouldn't survive the isolator. Under home arrest he doesn't have to breathe smoke 24/7 and live in the same cell as tuberculosis infecteds.
