Like nearly all memes, the words "lel" and "kek" are humorous, but have spread to and stayed in the clutches of common people who aren't smart enough to produce the same caliber of humor, and they have tainted them. It is not bad, it's the natural cycle of most funny things on the internet, and the longer they are used by undesirables the more tainted they become. Anyone aware of this cycle will expect a replacement to pop up for these terms, and eventually become well known and ruined by faggots. I suggest to standardize what we say as an indication of amusement. The word to indicate amusement never changes, and we may add an option to it to specify what type of amusement it is, and how it took place. I'm not sure of the syntax we should use, but how about the same as a function?
>>8 I stated the implications of what >>2 said. It was successful because when quoting him and replacing his words with his implications you still receive the same message, although my version underlined his stupidity. -- to answer your question, as you can see in my post, it was an indirect quote of :
>>9 Stop pulling excuses out of your ass every time you intentionally misuse the quote feature. You're not making >>2 look stupid, you're making yourself look stupid.
If you want do something and you have to choose between * making your statement directly without looking like a complete idiot, and * not getting your point across by writing with your head in you ass, the former is always a better choice.

>>10 'twas a defensive response against an aggressive faggot, why must thou direct thine anger t'wards myself? My only reasonable suspicion is that you are a ``samefig''. I also don't know why you are so aggressive towards an indirect quote. Do you suggest I don't take advantage of the features of the BBS? Now you are just defensive because you lashed out when there was no need, I was not misusing the feature and ruining your precious elite haven from the imagereddits.

My only reasonable suspicion is that you are a ``samefig''.
I must be a ``samefig'' on every single thread that misuses quotes then.
What makes you think your idiocy is suddenly acceptable anyway? A ``harmless'' indirect quote? Might as well start posting ``harmless funny image macros'' and see what happens. We should abuse the [code] tag to make some epic text macros as well.
Why is it acceptable for 4chan imageboards to hate Reddit users for their childish unfunny attitude, but it's not okay for us to want to keep the imageboard users away for the exact same reason?
So an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind, or you think I should've degraded my textual attacker in a more mature manner than him? Either way, this is exactly what my thread is about. Using indirect quotes to mock somebody you don't like would seem to make sense, if it weren't carrying with it the relation it may have with 4chan shitposts. The same goes for what were once funny jokes which had their time and use, but are rarely applied to those conditions anymore.

>>14 But what do I do if I want to make an indirect quote? In BBS >'s are for le quotes. Alternatively, when "'s are used for quoting, they are also used in the event of an indirect quote. So why not use >'s for both? If not, how should I execute an indirect quote?

Stand up comedy isn't funny, being a normal ranting about normals isn't funny. The three stooges, marx brothers, steve brule, are funny. The tramp isn't funny due to his political and liberal muh emotions shit. Those stand up comedians aren't funny because of their jock and college ``humour'' stupid misogynist shit etc.

Also, I'm just wondering: have you guys ever craved cock so badly that you found yourself running around outside, howling at the moon for it? Literally ROARING at the top of your lungs, wanting nothing less than a dick's head churning against your glottal stop?
"lel" is a weaker form of "lol," which is, in turn, a weaker form of "LOL."
"lel" is used to indicate that the listener understands why a statement would be interpreted as humourous, but does not himself find the statement particularly funny.
"lol" denotes a genuine chuckle, and "LOL" indicates uproarious laughter
