Wurlitzer acoustic pianos were “economy” home pianos and not intended for the performance stage or professional musician. As a home piano they are adequate, most of the more recent instruments were passably good, a few from the 1970s and 1980s, like most American products of that era were poor. The spinets were low to mid grade pianos (but I don’t recommend spinets if you can help it).
Many Wurlitzer console and spinet pianos had one or a few tuning pins in the tenor that were bunched so close together that a normal tuning wrench would not fit and a special tuning tip or a tuning wrench dedicated to Wurlitzers was required to tune those strings. When I mentioned this to the factory they tried to get me fired from the store I was working at!

I have a Wurlitzer upright, and have loved it for 20 years now. I took lessons for six years on a Wurlitzer grand (owned by my piano coach).
In my experience, Wurlitzer pianos feel slightly crisper to the touch than the average Kawaii, Yamaha, or Baldwin, but not as crisp as a concert Steinway. To me, Wurlitzers make for a very comfortable playing experience and produce a clear-but-not-to-the-point-of-brassy sound. In a word (or three), I'm a fan.
In general, though, pianos are as good as they are kept… get it tuned regularly by a reputable piano tuner, keep it out of direct light, never put water on it, and play it often!

I own a vintage Wurlitzer Spinet and according to our late piano tuner its one of the best sounding pianos he has ever worked on, and for its age with all of its original guts intact, he says that we underpaid the 200 dollars for it.
Its all based on the insides and the way the piano is built, ours is leather wrapped mahogany, with a brass/iron soundboard will full action keyboards, no idea exactly why it was made since Wurlitzer can’t find the number. 2.1K views
