The unreal editor ---> quake-mod pipeline is now: open map in editor, export .t3d file. Intersect map in editor, export main map .obj file export the movers.
direct the script to generate an ent file from the t3d info direct the script to generate an rtlights file from the t3d info direct the script to generate a file with the movers.txt
Copy over a .mapinfo file with the settings you prefer if you wish, and a jpg for an img preview.
Look over the .ent file, and the movers.txt bring the movers.txt into the ent file and make some edits if the movers aren't doing what you want.
oh and change the extension to .basescale1.obj_from_mc on the main map model format and the other models.
It went from impossible to a few commands. This is to learn the unreal entity/t3d file format, what goes with what. What movers corrispond to quake/quake3 mover entities, on and on.
there are various options regarding the strenght of the rtlights etc. In the game you can set the lights to static if rtlights are too wasteful of fps.
Explaining it makes it sound "trivial" but it is not. So don't be spitting on me. First obj was not a map format, so a year or 2 ago I extended it abit to make it such. You can export straight from minetest (or craft) and have a map in 2 seconds (note: you'll have to provide your own minecraft textures as they are proprietary). Much had to be done engine wise and QuakeC wise to make that happen.
Same with BZFlag.
However the obj_from_mc code can be used for almost all games. And even things like bullet penetration had to have quakeC code written for these formats (otherwise they are like paper), so stop fucking dissing me.
There's all these little things you need to do that YOU don't know about.

While the unreal editor can output obj files, one has to parse the .t3d file for the entities and the lighting. The code I wrote helps me learn the format (learn by doing), and it outputs .ent files for Quake and .rtlights files. It was alot of work, but you'll make light of it.
I've also been writing QuakeC in support of this effort (adding entities to make "fake water/slime/lava, and to help fill areas with it, as the script I wrote commands), wrighing code so the bullet deceleration in water code I wrote years ago works with these new fake-water entities, client code so the fog works with them underwater.
Some bugfixes too of errors I found in my old code of unused features that now can be used correctly.
Engine code in C to allow obj files to cull entities, Engine code in C to support more wave deforms for shaders. Engine code to support the Unreal H/S/V way of doing things, for some shaders. Test code to test that.
Perl code to test against that and make sure one didn't make a mistake. (Perl code is written first, often, then once the algorithim is correct, it is written in the engine in C)
